RPG AWESOME: CHRONO TRIGGER

A Squaresoft Gem: Chrono Trigger
If you find yourself in search of an incredible RPG experience and have access to a Super Nintendo, Nintendo DS, or an Emulator, then you are in luck. One of the BEST RPG’s I have ever played in my life is a little game called Chrono Trigger, by Squaresoft (now Square Enix). Most RPG lovers have played this game, but for those of you who haven’t, PLEASE check it out!
Chrono Trigger’s riveting story line sucks you in with its well written plot, twists, and turns. The characters and even the NPC’s are lovable and relatable. The fighting system is one of the best in my opinion. It has numerous dungeons and explorable lands filled with enemies, hidden objects, and incredible bosses. And last but not least, it has some of the best level and boss music ever!
It is about a young man named Chrono who goes to the local Centennial Fair, where he runs into a girl named Marle. She decides to join him for fun at the fair. There are games you can compete in, bet on, shops, and even a training area with a cat robot with a cute little song. Then it is time to see the invention of a girl named Lucca. She is showing the fair a test run of her teleporter and Marle volunteers. It ends up teleporting her to another TIME. You then go to save Marle, and eventually end up at the End of Time. This is where you receive you receive your magic training, and find out that a powerful being named Lavos will destroy the world. From here you travel from era to era gathering new party members including Lucca, Marle, Frog, Magus, Ayla, and Robo. You and your friends have to find Lavos and destroy him before he ends the world.
The characters all have unique stories, weapons, armor, and magic. Different magic in stronger on different enemies, so you can switch out your party members to combat different types of enemies and bosses.Your party has 3 members at any given time, and you can switch them around at any time (unless you are in battle). The fighting system is turn based, where you essentially have meter that builds and when it fills it is your turn. You level up as you fight enemies, building strength, speed, defense, magic, etc. You will also find “Capsules” along the way that you can use on any party member to level up whatever the capsule is for (magic, strength, etc). And even more, what path you choose to take, the way you talk to people, and the order in which you do things will all determine different outcomes in the game from the very moment you start playing. It is not a rigid story line, you can take your time leveling up by exploring dungeons and finding hidden items, do side quests to earn items and new areas, and travel from whatever era you like as you please. It keeps you intrigued the entire time you play, waiting to find out what happens next, or what era, past and future, you will end up in and what is going on in that time. In the Nintendo DS version, there are new cut scenes, updated graphics, new items, new dungeons, and even a new mini game where you train and battle your own monsters.
This game is incredible and can be found on the top 10 lists of gamers all over the world. This is absolutely one of the best games I have ever played, and there has never been another game where I enjoyed the characters and gameplay this much. You are doing yourself a disservice as a gamer by not at least trying this game out! So go, what are you waiting for? Do it! NOW!
